- 3.Publish the honest comparison
- 4.Keep it current
A model cites what it can lift cleanly and trust. That is a writing brief, and it is more mechanical than most content teams expect.
Write for extraction
Answer the question in the first two sentences, then explain. A paragraph that opens with the answer is easy to retrieve; one that opens with context is easy to skip.
Use plain headings that repeat the question a buyer would type. Headings are retrieval handles, not decoration.
Be specific enough to quote
Numbers, dates, model names and prices are quotable. Adjectives are not. 'Fast setup' gives a model nothing; 'live in under an hour' gives it a sentence.
Put the specifics in text, not in an image. Anything locked in a screenshot is invisible to the systems reading your page.
Publish the honest comparison
Comparison pages are among the most cited pages in every category, because they answer the question buyers actually ask. Write one that says who you are not right for, then use a citation audit to see which comparisons already shape your answers.
Credibility is what earns the citation. A page that admits limits gets quoted more often than one that claims everything.
Keep it current
Recency is a ranking signal in retrieval. A pricing page updated this quarter is treated differently from one dated two years ago.
Put a visible last-updated date on your key pages and actually honour it. Stale pages are where competitors quietly overtake you.
